First we have the early standard lift-gate tank.

Then came the whammy tanks, which allowed two blocks, one at each end to connect to one tank.

Then came clear tanks, standard, whammy and the mini whammy

Then came the pressurized tanks with backing plates. These kind had no vent, as it was blocked off.
