I thought it was rather common, it is in europe, and i seem to remember some dancers used it. Its a domestic Ford btw. I think im goin with accu.s with no spring n the end, but im gonna try coilunder first to see if i can chipp a beer can lol

with a tail rod
Exactly what I was thinking, but with a shock attached to the tailrod. Good idea! Bit of of an install nightmare thou, unless remote mounted. Again, like the displacement system. If only i had tons of money i'd spend ages doin this kind of stuff experimenting odd solutions.

Aircraft accumulators are usually piston type, and ive heard they dont do such an amzing job LOL, but that kind has been around a while now. Those from BM look like they need to get plumbed into the system? Would make sense, and i suppose the bigger they are the softer the ride, while if too small wont do a thing. Like the fluid displacment system from Rayvern, only "oil to oil" rather than "oil to coil"

SHOCKS / WHAT TO USE / Re: Rear coil over with external shock.

This idea is great. But that picture is puzzleing. So, its not a coilunder, cause theres no coil at the end of the ram. Its not a coilover cause if it was there would be a cup over the collar with a spring on it. Is this set up runnin accumulators and no spring? But still, the collar should be layin against the frame shouldnt it? Or is the shock supportin the weight? Something isnt right.
Great idea thou, really. If only most lowriders cared about having a good ride it could even be useful LOL

On my units, that are industrial based, there is no way you can muscle the block off. I tried, cause like on every job, pryin with a screwdriver is not the best...but, it was either that or nothin

Thinkin about it, thaqt might have been an alternative to a manifold?? obviously speed wasnt an issue, but i'd like to know why.

I really, really, really....really like the look of these units. Are the BMH, and other brands, aircraft ''lookalikes'' based on this type of pumps? I would think so. Ive been lookin at what the local industrial hydraulic shops have to offer in regards to dry pump type of units but ive yet to find something switable off the shelf. Dont want to make a aircraft wannabe set up btw, but a true industrial lookin one, but being a side project, but mostly me being broke, it will be a while before i can actually show something worth a picture. Did you put something togheter with these units?

ACCUMULATORS / ACCMULATORS / Re: ACCUMULATORS

I always thought that setups with only cilinders and accus would still need shocks to be perfect, but i kept hearing that the combo acts like both a spring and a shock that i started sorta beliving it even if the concept goes against the way i look at the whole physics of the ''situation''. Althou, i'd still use shocks regardless of whats the general public's view on the subject. Check this video out for example. It looks like the car has a huge ''bounce'' and im sure if the situation calls for it, it could slam on the concrete and/or bounce its occupants to death LOL. Dont get me wrong, i highly respect Hydroholics, i did even b4 ownin some of their incredibly high quality parts, but i think that the concept of a good ride/good handling car is very diffrent depending who you ask to. Then again, maybe this video was made this way on purpose to made clear that hydros dont necessarely mean ''break ya back'' kinda ride! Now, this is what i consider a good ride, and just where i wanna get to with mine. I bet this one has shocks to stop the rebound while the car on the video above hasnt.

HOSES / BUSTED HOSES / Re: Busted long hose?
|
on: December 24, 2012, 02:28:25 PM
|
I actually routed my hoses inside the car to avoid them gettin pinched. They run on the sides where the wireing is routed (inner rocker) and exits throug a hole i made behind the pedals. At the moment i simply used a section of thick rubber hose on the hole so that the metal wont damage the hose but i will use bulkheads the day ill upgrade the whole set up, both for a cleaner look and a safer install.

I kno, old post, and maybe there was a second thought on it. But wouldnt this be the same as putting an extension on the fitting or using a longer hose? = does nothin? Cant seem to wrap my head around how this trick can improve on speed but im happy to be taught.

Good place for a 1st post early this year when i swapped out the bags with the juice i over tightened the rear JIC connections and i had two busted hoses in a week! Funny part is i had to drive home with the car on a lean, grindin a rear arm and drippin oil. 1st time i was like 2 mins from home, but the second time i had a good 10 minutes road comin back from the supermarket. Thank fuck i didnt cross any law enforcment squad as it would have been bigtrouble. Some funny faces on the sidewalks thou
