Title: Substituting solder for o-ring
Post by: Hydros on July 03, 2004, 06:54:57 PM
Anyone ever use something other than that heart shaped O-ring in the pump heads.

I tried all kinds of things on the Pesco pump heads, just wondering if anyone found a way to by-pass this special O-ring on the Marzocchis.

Please note, your replies may be posted on Hydros.biz

Anyways, I have some ideas and was wondering what you thought about using solder, silicone, plastic, lead, wire or epoxy?

It looks like the something else could be used.

Yeah the best way to bypass all the fittings on Marzoochi is get a FENNER pump head. ;)

I'd try distorting a o-ring of similar size with heat... if your in a pinch

id say silicone.. but let it set up so that it is not gonna mush.. that way it keeps a bit of shape.. an when u bolt the 2 pieces togeather it will act more like an o-ring...  if it can stand up to the pressure, an if the material will not be adversly effected by the fluid in the system is the only questions..
not to mention the last thing u would want is a little piece of silicone to get free and be floatin around ur hydro system..
just a thought is all.
