Here we have a PIC of two cylinders and two different pieces of hardware we used to mount the cylinders in the frame.

On the right is a set of regular donuts on a Chrome Jet (made around 1981) to the left is a set of what we called Hats (not sure of the real name).

These Hats allowed more coil. The drawback to using these was that the cutout  holes in the frame were about 1/2" larger. They allowed the cylinder to sit up higher in the frame, and were easier to install the coil springs because they allowed about 2" more of room to get your hand up over the coil to set the rod into the cups.

If you look real close at the donuts, you will see what looks like groves (like on a record) These dounts were machined (not cast) at a machine shop out of high grade metal and are about 3/8" thick.

The hats we purchased at OTTO HYDRAULICS around 1981. I don't see these being sold these days.

Side note: yes the rods have been removed in this PIC.

those hats are the same idea of a deep cup.

I made this for my coilover front. It goes to about half inch lower than the collar, right over the heim mount. With this i can run 4 turns and still get low. Its made with scrap i had layin around.

You have coil overs in the front  ?????????????  What kind of car?  Is this a first?
Posts like this are going to get you into the innovators league

I thought it was rather common, it is in europe, and i seem to remember some dancers used it.
Its a domestic Ford btw.
I think im goin with accu.s with no spring n the end, but im gonna try coilunder first to see if i can chipp a beer can lol
