Title: Busted long hose? Post by: Hydros on March 21, 2004, 10:12:13 PM Say you pop one of your longer hoses going to the front. You might be running this hose in and out of the frame, body, brackets, supports etc.
Here's a good way to replace it, if you run it under the back seat, remove the hose end from the pump and use a fitting to attach your new hose. Then pull your old hose toward the front of the car snaking the hose with it. Sometimes it might be easier to pull the hose from the truck back. Title: Busted long hose? Post by: VOLV_LO on March 23, 2004, 12:51:32 PM Have two hoses running to the front, hardline to the front and run a small hose thats easy to replace.
BUY THOSE ENDS THAT SCREW IN ON THE SPOT. Title: Busted long hose? Post by: Hydros on March 24, 2004, 03:44:58 AM Hard lines will get it's own forum, in the meantime, we used to run hardlines inside of garden hoses to prevent them from hitting corners and edges.
Nowadays I say use heater hose and tie straps or clamp them down maybe every 2 feet. Title: Busted long hose? Post by: misterouija on May 03, 2005, 08:44:29 PM In a pinch a few years ago my friend with a 80's caddy that layed frame blew a hose... he did have a spare 15' hose on hand..he couldn't get under it to run the hose and he needed to get home so I ran it under the back seat out the side window and right under the hood! :o He got home and we put the hose in right when we got back to his house... :o
Title: Busted long hose? Post by: Hydros on May 04, 2005, 08:54:49 PM Yeah, that's a good one. I like to see stories like these. One of the best I ever read was in LRM around the early 80's. Some guy in Germany installing a home made setup and the good times he was having with the cops and the girls.
Yes I look for that too and post it sometime. Title: Busted long hose? Post by: misterouija on May 05, 2005, 07:15:02 AM ;)
Title: Re: Busted long hose? Post by: dogbone on December 24, 2012, 02:28:25 PM I actually routed my hoses inside the car to avoid them gettin pinched. They run on the sides where the wireing is routed (inner rocker) and exits throug a hole i made behind the pedals.
At the moment i simply used a section of thick rubber hose on the hole so that the metal wont damage the hose but i will use bulkheads the day ill upgrade the whole set up, both for a cleaner look and a safer install. |
