Title: Mechanical fans attached to the motor
Post by: Hydros on June 29, 2004, 01:39:51 AM
There are some ideas out there adapting a fan blade to the motor itself. This might be a good idea, but it seems that this type of setup might cause a drag on the motor.

As for hopping, I would not want any drag, unless the good outweighed the bad.  Using an external fan not connected to the motor, seems to be PLAN  "A"

One thing about using any type of fan, it serves two things:

1) To remove unwanted heat
2) To remove the copper dust that may cause arcing. (You'd want to vent this outside the trunk).

You would want to draw in air near the block by porting the motor casing, then using the end cap with holes also drill in it to exhaust the air and copper dust.
