Here we see the early tanks that had the metal punched and threaded.

And here we see two types of tanks with different threaded inserts welded into place.

Here are the three lined up. The one on the left is the stock original type, the center appears to be a cheaper version of the more heavy duty one on the right.

See the outside welds around the filler holes.

The weights of these tanks and metal thickness is also different.

The approx weight of the tanks are as follows:
Stock O.E. 1.69 pounds
Unknown black tank: 1.86 pounds
Lona and Sons: 2.204 pounds.
